There were many challenges when trying to find research on the small Caribbean island of Barbados. Due to the country being so small it doesn’t have many sites available to look at other than cruises and other vacationing websites. Although the same websites did give me many places to see and visit while in Barbados. Barbados is one of the most vacationed islands in the Caribbean. Like many Caribbean islands one of the most favorite places to visit are the beaches. Some of the more popular beaches on the island are Bridgetown Beach, Carlisle Bay, Miami Beach, and Enterprise Beach are the most visited ones. Barbados has many interesting and fun facts despite it being such a small country. It
was one of the last countries to gain its independence in 1966, once a colony of England. Because of this the culture has an Afro-European affect on the people. Many slaves were brought to the country in the 1600s by the English therefore bringing an African culture to the island. One of the most famous people from the island is singer Rihanna. The name Barbados comes from “bearded fig trees” which the island was once covered by when the British first arrived.
